RICHLAND, Wash. — A Tri-Cities doctor accused of sexual abuse by former patients has been banned from treating female patients by state medical regulators.

The Washington Medical Commission ordered Dr. Mark Mulholland on Sept. 16 to stop treating any female patients or anyone who identifies as female. The restriction also prohibits him from consulting on cases involving female patients.

Despite the restrictions, Mulholland’s medical license remains active in Washington state.

The medical commission filed charges against Mulholland in April, accusing him of unprofessional conduct and sexual abuse. At the time of the alleged incidents, Mulholland worked as an obstetrician-gynecologist with Kadlec in Richland.

Multiple law firms have filed lawsuits against Mulholland, Kadlec and its parent company Providence. One law firm says it represents more than 100 people who claim they were victimized by the doctor.

Kadlec officials said they cannot comment on pending litigation but confirmed that Mulholland no longer practices with their hospitals.

Mulholland signed the order restricting him from treating female patients but has not responded to multiple requests for comment from Apple Valley News Now.
